Internet Tools

Use internet tools to do a traceroute to curtin.edu.au from my location. Posted below is a pic of the result




The traceroute above is not a visual one, but it still shows the ip addresses and time of where the data coming to you is going

Visual traceroute is even better than one above as it shows a map and points where data is going

Note: the curtin.edu.au ip address is 134.7.179.53 and there are 21 hops from me to curtin

Average time in ms is 246 from me to curtin.edu.au

Ping to webct.curtin.edu.au from network-tools

Ping to webct.curtin.edu.au from my computer


As shown above the ping time from network-tools was slower than the ping from my computer, this is because the website adds ms to the overall time


My thoughts on the above tasks and information gathering, I found it fairly easy to do and enjoyed it :)
